How do you like your book reviews?

If you’ve been with my blog from the beginning, you may have noticed that I had a weekly book review up (on Monday). However, I found that very hard to keep up.

I generally read books for either pleasure or research for my own novel. To write a good book review though, I found I had to change the way I was reading the book and it became more of a chore for me. I didn’t want to write the type of book review that you find on Amazon, I wanted to give solid reasons – with examples – of why I felt a certain wat about books.

Another reason I stopped doing them is because I was reading a lot of romance that was new to me and a lot of it I didn’t like. I didn’t want to keep reviewing books by the same authors I did like and I didn’t want to keep writing negative reviews. Especially not if the review was going to be negative because I was just not into the book (and not because the book was badly written or something).

So what do you, as readers, prefer? Would you like to see more book reviews on the blog – on the understanding it won’t be an in-depth analysis? Would you like me to post reviews of books I really didn’t like or only of books I can recommend? Do you mind if the books are old (i.e. they were published a few years back)?

Let me know in the comments.
