We’re eight weeks into the Summer 100 Sex Blogger Challenge, so it’s time to take stock and see how it is going. I personally joined this challenge for the following reasons in order of importance to me:
To build more – and better – content.
To connect with other sex bloggers.
To increase traffic to my site.
Build more content
I am nothing if not a stickler for rules. When I joined the Summer 100 Sex Blogger Challenge Victoria assured me that while it would be great to write 100 posts, it was not a complete hard rule. However, since the challenge has the number 100 in the title, I was – and still am – determined to get as close to 100 blog posts as possible. Which does mean posting every day. I do cheat a little by posting a quote every Wednesday, but other than that every blog post is original, new content.
I like the challenge of posting a blog post every day. It’s not easy and sometimes I really have to rack my brains to come up with something, but it keeps me thinking and it prevents me from becoming complacent. I am not sure if I am going to keep up this pace once the challenge is over, but I hope I will have developed good blogging habits by the end of August which I will carry with me once the challenge is over.
Connect with other sex bloggers
When I started out sex blogging I didn’t really know any other sex bloggers. The internet is vast and it can be hard to find other – quality – blogs that you would like. So when I saw this challenge, I thought it was a great idea. And the challenge started out promising with over 20 participants. During the first month of the challenge more people joined and some people left and some people simply stopped blogging. But a core of dedicated participants remained and we all connected on Twitter (and others may have connected on other social media platforms, but I only use Twitter).
As the weeks and months passed by, I got to know my fellow participants. Some of them have featured on my own blog with the Blogger Spotlight series. My fantastic fellow sex bloggers have really made me think with their blog posts – and have entertained me and educated me. The sex blogger community is amazing and I am so lucky to have found everyone through the Summer 100 Sex Blogger Challenge.
Increasing traffic to my site was one of the reasons I joined the Summer 100 Sex Blogger Challenge, but it was not first and foremost on my mind. I am always wary of initiatives that claim to increase traffic to my site as often this increase in traffic is only a spike, and falls off after the initiative is over. I have seen more traffic to my site in the last eight weeks, so the Summer 100 Sex Blogger Challenge certainly has had its desired effect, but I hope that this traffic will continue to come to my site.
Joining the Summer 100 Sex Blogger Challenge has certainly been beneficial for me and for my blog. I have built far more content than I would have done were it not for this challenge. I have connected with far more people than I would have done were it not for this challenge. We’re in the home stretch now and I hope I can maintain my momentum despite being on holiday. Keep writing, everyone!
This blog post is part of the Summer 100 Sex Blogger Challenge. Check out some of the blogs of the other participants:
Carly has a good blog post up about what type of material you should look for in your sex toys over at her blog Dildo or DilDon’t.
Meg reviews the Tantus Flurry O2 on her blog, scarlettrosevixen. I have recently discovered the Tantus sex toys and can attest that they are amazing.
