Masturbation is nothing to be ashamed of

It seems like I talk about masturbation a lot, both here and on Twitter. But I think masturbation is important, for a number of reasons. Obviously, as a sex blogger I am sometimes required to masturbate when I test out sex toys to review (oh, the hardship!). As I said in an earlier post, I have probably masturbated more in the last year than I have in the 19 years previously. Continue reading “Masturbation is nothing to be ashamed of”

The way you are having sex is unique, amazing and perfect

Are you having sex? Do you enjoy it? Are you getting off? Then great, you are doing it right.

It’s such a simple statement, but why, then, is it so hard to believe? I am 40 years old and have been sexually active for 20 years. I blog about sex and have done more masturbating in the last year than I have all my life combined. But I often still feel like I am “doing it wrong.” Continue reading “The way you are having sex is unique, amazing and perfect”

Sex toy review: Sh! Bliss G-Vibe

Sh! Bliss G-Vibe in box
When I planned to do a giveaway for my 1st year blogiversary, I contacted Sh! to see if they would be willing to provide me with a toy. They were happy to give me the Sh! Bliss G-Vibe, and not only that, they also gave me one to try for myself. Yay! After having been sick for a bit, I finally had a chance to try it out. Continue reading “Sex toy review: Sh! Successful monogamy: is that possible?

Monogamy has been the status quo for a very long time and it is refreshing to see alternatives becoming more acceptable. But I feel that monogamy has gotten a bad name and as a sex blogger, I sometimes feel a bit silly for being monogamous. But my husband and I have been exclusive for 20 years (married for 16) and I don’t recognise our relationship in the staid picture of monogamy that the media usually portrays. Share our Shit Saturday: What I enjoyed reading this week

Another week has come and gone, time flies these days. In keeping with the #SOSS hashtag, here is another round up of blog posts I found interesting this week. I have decided to also share links to other people I find interesting (Twitter or their personal website), because I don’t like to limit myself to blogs only. I just want to share shit in general (the hashtag is Share our Shit, not Share our Blog Posts after all). Continue reading “Share our Shit Saturday: What I enjoyed reading this week”

We are all different: why body positivity makes common sense

A while ago I was sat on the couch, reading a book, minding my own business. My 8 year old son sat next to me, poked me in the stomach and said, ‘You need to lose weight, you are fat.’

I was aghast. Aside from the fact that, while I have gained a bit more weight in the last year, I am by no means fat, it’s not his place to say I need to lose weight. And so I told him that he was being judgemental and I didn’t need to lose weight.

ENDED – One year blogiversary: win a Sh! Bliss Vibe

My blog is turning one, I can’t believe it! It doesn’t seem like I have been blogging about sex for a year, but it appears to be the case. I have grown a lot in the last year, both as a sex blogger and as an individual, and I am so grateful for all the other sex bloggers out there who helped me find my feet, consoled me when my website went down and I lost a LOT of blog posts, and made me feel welcome in the sex blogging community. Share Our Shit Saturday: What I enjoyed reading this week

It is becoming increasingly difficult to find a platform for sex bloggers. Twitter has started to shadowban sex bloggers, Facebook has always banned anything related to sex and other social media platforms are equally squeamish when it comes to sex.
